Interview With Tyler WardIt's that time of year. School's up and running-- a little slow for my liking and its getting a little hard to breathe from under all these apps! The stress levels reach an all time high [;)] and the only way out, for me atleast, is some good tunes.
What genre of music do you consider your work to be and who are your major influences? Sing along pop/rock music. My major influences are the old Matchbox twenty and goo goo dolls. More modern are The Rocket Summer and anything that's good. anything that makes me grove, including lil' wayne.
How long have you all known each other? How did you meet? we meet at a battle of the bands competition. We were in separate bands. I was in a band called Set Forth, they were in a band called Abandonato. They beat us and came in 1st. we came in 16th. lol.
When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together? 1 and ½ years ago. No inspiration but the music itself. Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? Playing with the fray at CSU’s moby arena in front of thousands of people was my favorite show. I’ve played all over the country... texas, Wyoming, new Orleans, new York, California.
What are your all time favorite songs? Who are your favorite artists? Name by the Goo Goo Dolls. And a classical song called reflection by Secret Garden. What is your favorite of all your songs? Pages Of Life and Our Story's Told
What inspires your lyrics? Real life situations. Could you briefly describe the process of making and promoting an album? recording…takes a long long long time. About three or four days per song. Mixing takes even longer. Then promoting it is easy, just use all of your outlets to get the idea out there!
What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? We thought we would “Make it” a lot sooner, but this business is tough and we still have millions of miles to go. we overcome it by continuing to pursue music! What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands? Do IT! And do it to the best of your ability. It’s going to be hard sometimes and people will promise you the world and deliver nothing. But, if you’re passionate about it, there is nothing greater in the world then making music with other people!
What's the most bizarre thing to happen while you were onstage? my guitarist slipped during a song and almost knocked me out with the neck of his guitar! Ha ha! What’s your least favorite part about touring? The Time it takes to get between states!
Does touring and the other aspects of your professional life affect your private life? Are you able to keep up with school work? It does. Sometimes girlfriend relastionships are affected, that’s why I don’t have many relationships. Also, I am able to keep up with most everything! It’ s just finding balance! Any parting words for the readers? We as human beings are seriously able to make our dreams reality! That’s no joke! Don’t forget it!
